GlaS-A-Fuels researchers join workshops on advanced materials for catalysis and energy storage
In recent months, postdoctoral researchers from VSB, supported by the GlaS-A-Fuels project—Dr. Ganesh Sunil More, Dr. Aadil Bathla, Dr. Venkateswarlu Sada, and Dr. Nakatsuka Soichiro—along with Dr. A. Bakandritsos and Prof. Radek Zboril, have actively participated in and organized two workshops focused on advanced materials for (photo)catalysis, energy storage, and single-atom engineering.
Hosted by the Materials-Envi Lab at VŠB-TUO, led by Prof. Radek Zboril, these workshops provided a unique opportunity to engage with leading scientists in the field. Among the distinguished speakers was Pavel Hobza, recipient of the Czech Head and Schrödinger Medal for computer science, who shared insights into his groundbreaking research on non-covalent interactions and their applications in materials science.
Other notable speakers included researchers recently joining VSB from renowned German institutes:
Assoc. Prof. Jagadeesh Rajenahally, who presented his work on catalysis for sustainable and circular chemistry.
Dr. Indrajit Ghosh, an expert in photoredox catalysis.
Assoc. Prof. Stepan Kment and Dr. Yazhou Zhou, who shared their latest findings on (photo)electrocatalysis.

Beyond knowledge exchange, these workshops fostered valuable collaborations between researchers, young scientists, and administrative staff. Participants also explored synergies with other HORIZON EUROPE and national projects related to nanomaterials and catalysis, including GlaS-A-Fuels, SAN4Fuel, Projekt Refresh, and the MERGE Twinning project. Additionally, they strengthened ties with esteemed research teams, such as Politecnico di Milano (Gianvito Vilé team) and the University of Groningen (Giuseppe Portale team).
These workshops exemplify the commitment of the GlaS-A-Fuels project to advancing innovation in catalysis and sustainable energy solutions through collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
